Trout Run Trail - A 12 mile paved recreational trail circling the city of Decorah.

Hiking & Mountain biking trails - Decorah City Trails are a series of connecting trails mostly paralleling the Upper Iowa River through Decorah.

Decorah Parks and Upper Iowa River -

  • Phelps Park - 56 acres - Facilities - eight picnic shelters, electrical outlets, three playground areas, restrooms, picnic tables, cookout grills, bonfire grills, benches,  hiking trails, playground diamond, sand volleyball court, drinking fountains, bandshell, scenic overlooks, Whalen Cabin, Schulze Brick Kiln.
  • DUNNING'S SPRING PARK AND ICE CAVE HILL - 115 acres - Facilities - picnic tables, cookout grills, bonfire grill, bench, scenic waterfall and stream, trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing

  • PALISADES PARK - 105 acres - Facilities - picnic tables, cookout grills, bench, scenic overlooks, trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing

  • CITY PRAIRIE - 34 acres - Facilities - benches, butterfly garden, trails for hiking, road or mountain biking, and cross-country skiing

  • TWIN SPRINGS PARK - 48 acres - Facilities - picnic tables, cookout grills, bonfire grills, stocked trout stream, children's fishing pond, trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing

  • SWIMMING POOL PARK - 6 acres - Facilities - picnic tables, playground equipment, benches, swimming pool with water slide, grass beach area, sand volleyball court and play area

  • WOLD PARK - 3 acres - Facilities - picnic tables, cookout grills, playground equipment, bench, a section of the paved Oneota River Trail*, skateboard park (*Oneota River Trail is a paved recreation trail which follows the Upper Iowa River, approximately 2.5 miles long)

  • WILL BAKER PARK AND CANOE LANDING AREA - 11 acres - Facilities - picnic shelter, picnic tables, cookout grills, electrical outlets, playground equipment, portable toilet, hiking trail, Pulpit Rock site, canoe landing along the Upper Iowa River

  • CARL SELLAND WAYSIDE PARK - 2 ½ acres - Facilities - picnic shelter, restrooms, picnic tables, electrical outlets, outdoor basketball courts, ice skating rink and warming house, butterfly garden, bench

  • MARY CHRISTOPHER PARK - ½ acre - Facilities - picnic shelter, picnic tables,  restrooms, horseshoe courts (lighted), benches, drinking fountain

  • BARBARA BARNHART VAN PEENEN MEMORIAL PARK - 120 acres - Facilities -  fresh water spring, 8 acres tallprairie grass, trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing (this is a natural wildlife area which is not developed for picnicking and camping)

  • MILLER PARK - 6 acres - Facilities - playground equipment, picnic shelter, picnic tables, cookout grill, bench, drinking fountain, playground diamond

  • NORDHEIM PARK - 1½ acres - Facilities - playground equipment, picnic shelter, picnic tables, cookout grill, bench, drinking fountain, playground diamond

Luther College - The college hosts numerous events pertaining to education, sports and the Arts. 

Vesterheim Museum - This Norwegian-American museum is one of the premier Ethnic museums in the world.  The Vesterheim Museum contains a great deal of immigrant artifacts from early clothing and housing of our first European settlers to the ships that braved the ocean.  Special shows, classes and seminars are frequently held at the museum. 

ArtHaus - Decorah's home for the arts bringing visual, performing, and literary art together under one roof and offering creative programs for all ages.

Seed Saver Exchange - The 173 acre heritage farm is a living museum of historic varieties of endangered vegetables, apples, grapes and cattle. A unique hiking trail is more than two miles long extending through extensive Preservation Gardens and an Historic Orchard.   2 miles

Winneshiek Wildberry Winery -

Porter House Museum - This stately Victorian home built of native brick in 1867 stands as a reminder of a golden age in Decorah history, and as a memorial to lifetime resident, Adelbert Field Porter, a collector and naturalist.

Nordic Fest - The Nordic Fest is held annually during the last full weekend in July.  It is a celebration of our Scandinavian heritage and traditions.  This weekend is packed full of ethnic foods, dancing, craft shows, parades, fireworks and more!

Northeast Iowa Artists' Studio Tour - Visit with award winning artists and watch them create.

Oneota Film Festival - The Oneota Film Festival is two days packed with almost 25 hours of feature-length and short films about sustainability in food, energy, and living – plus eco-tourism, short comedies, and local productions. Some sessions will be followed by panel discussions where you can connect the dots, share ideas and get helpful information from local and national experts.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Park and Museum - Burr Oak, IA. 13 miles

Billy Clocks Museum - Spillville, IA. 14 miles

Amish Tours - Harmony, MN. 25 miles
